The next icon contains text element. Once you click on this icon the text element will be added to your StoryTeller, on same slide, in the left upper corner (by default). Now the new box will contain “Click Edit to Add text” as on the picture:

As with the Text & Media component, there are options available for placing the text element on the StoryTeller, also to copy, paste, delete or align it. To access these options use right click or use menu button from the upper corner of box.

The copy/paste function in StoryTeller can be used to paste object multiple times. Also paste option makes it possible to copy an object and paste it to all slides in the report with a single click. This function is useful when adding headers, footers, background images, logos, etc and saves a lot of setup time. The option appears in the context menu after an object has been copied, as shown in the image below.

NOTE: You cannot embed video, or add images. The text component is for adding commentary and texts and html editor is not a functionality within the text component (simple text box). If you need to embed video or add an image, you need to add the component Text & Media.

Once you enter edit the new window with text editor will appear where you have options to change the font, color, horizontal and vertical alignment or a background of text element. There are also options for linking the text element to some other report or element or Inserting Dynamic text.

The Text object also contains options for adding Tooltips and styles on hover over. These settings make the reports more user-friendly by adding additional information in tooltips. It is also more obvious to the user that a Text object is a link if the layout changes when they hover over it (as shown in the image below). The image below shows an example of a Text object defined as link. The left text shows the text in its normal state, and the right image shows how it looks when hovered over.

The setup of links, tooltips and hover over style are the same as Icon and Shape objects. To enter the setup view, use the icon shown in the image below. The image below shows the button to click to enter the setup of link, tooltips, etc.

The background of the Text boxes is transparent in the setup mode so that you can see light colored text. The image below shows the new behavior of the Text object in the setup mode. The background is transparent so that light colored text is visible.

The next function is image object. Using this object you can add an image to your StoryTeller. Simply click on the image and you will be prompted to locate your file (image) and select it.

SVG images can be uploaded to StoryTeller and Form reports via the Image object. The SVG format is the preferred image format, as it is vector based which allows images to easily resize without becoming blurry. The size of the SVG files is also significantly smaller compared to PNG and JPEG, which results in better performance (faster loading time) as less data volumes needs to be transferred from the server to the user.

Note: to create SVG images, please save them as SVG instead of exporting as SVG. When you need to export them, please use the option "Save for Web (Legacy)"
